Resources for writing

Writing is so important in all things academic, but also in the real world. Being able to write a clear, concise report is no easy thing. It takes practice, requires being observant (ie learning from the work of others), and requires much iterative refinement…and knowing when to stop (ie being able to judge the point when the changes you make are not having a significant effect on the overall quality of your work: at this point you stop!).

Here are a few basic links to help with writing essays, reports, dissertations. Referencing and phasing used in academic writing should never be an issue again :0)

How to reference using the Harvard Method – Everything you need to know. You’ll never get it wrong again! A great site from the University of Bradford.

Academic phrasebank, here’s one for the bank! very useful for structuring academic papers/essays, and understanding the role of phraseology (is that a word?) in getting your points across.
